FREDERICK JOHN PENT
MARCH 22 1948 - APRIL 16 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Frederick John Pent on April 16, 2024. Frederick was born March 22, 1948, on the Northside of Pittsburgh, the son of Betty Fox and Frederick John Pent Sr ( both deceased). He was a charismatic member of the community and everyone knew him by name. His family fondly called him Derf, Daddio, Pops, and Pap pap, to everyone else he was Freddie.
For the past 34 years, he shared his life with his spouse Diane (Apitsch) Pent and was a pillar of strength and support to his four children and six grandchildren. Dayna Pereira (husband Joseph), Jessica Pressly (husband David) both of San Diego CA. Brittany Rohm (husband Michael) of Harmony PA, and son Brandon Pent of Lousiana. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren whom he loved dearly (Mason, Kai, Joselyn, Shae, Jonah and Jordyn). He was a man whose presence left a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. As a former United States Marine, he exemplified courage, honor and selflessness throughout his life. His devotion to family was unwavering, shaping the lives of generations with his wisdom, jokes and endless love.
Following his retirement from the Port Authority, he continued to spread joy and camaraderie as a dedicated supervisor for the Pirates at PNC Park and Ark Basement Services. His commitment to excellence and his compassionate leadership left an undeniable mark on those he worked with.
Beyond his professional achievements, Freddie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in the spirited competition of cornhole. His competitive nature shined as he sank bag after bag. Unless he was losing, at which point it was “just a game”. His infectious laughter and love for all things entertainment illuminated every gathering, making him the heart and soul of any celebration. Whether he was serenading you to the oldies, dancing the polka or cracking (at times inappropriate) jokes he was going to make you laugh.
Though he may no longer grace us with his presence, Freddie’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication will be engrained in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to call him a friend, colleague, or family member.
Freddie was proceeded in death by his aunt Pearl Fox, He is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
